Job description

The Financial Management Department is responsible for delivering an effective financial management service within the Trust, providing strategic advice on business developments, annual planning, and budget management.

A fixed-term Directorate Accountant role is being advertised to provide financial advice and management accounting support to various Clinical and Corporate Directorates.

This role is ideal for an ambitious individual who enjoys challenges, is self-motivated, and aims to use their financial skills to add value and support service improvement.

The ideal candidate will be a CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant or passed finalist, with a proven track record in financial management, academic success, and strong personal qualities including communication, persuasion, and teamwork. The position offers broad experience and excellent development opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Providing financial advice and support to Clinical Directorates in line with delegation arrangements.
  2. Preparing and monitoring the annual Financial Plan for the Directorates, and reporting on financial performance.
  3. Influencing operational policies to optimize performance and efficiency.
  4. Producing financial information for the Directorate’s Business Plan and support for cost pressure, service development, and activity bids.
  5. Facilitating the production of annual Reference Costs and ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulations.
  6. Supervising and guiding junior finance team colleagues.
  7. Undertaking specific projects as delegated by senior staff, acting as deputy when required.
  8. Providing financial information to network partners.
