About the role
  • Operate HV and LV electrical systems safely in accordance with approved switching schedules, operational procedures and Authorised Person requirements for hydro-electrical generating plant, including preparing, reviewing and completing switching instructions, permits, limitation-of-access documents and isolation records within the limits of authorisation.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance, inspections, testing and condition assessments on switchgear, transformers, protection systems, cables, batteries and earthing systems, providing knowledge and expertise to ensure risk-based maintenance techniques are applied to deliver safe, flexible and reliable plant.

  • Utilising your background knowledge and experience in the field of modern industrial plant systems, you will be expected to provide a high level of asset-specific technical knowledge and competence to the Operations and Maintenance team, supporting your team leader and your colleagues to deliver challenging operational, technical and commercial targets.
  • This job involves creating, managing and delivering electrical work scopes, including planned and unplanned work during outages, ensuring work is planned and controlled safely while managing and prioritising competing demands, placing safety first to ensure maintenance is completed on time and within budget.
  • As well as carrying out maintenance tasks yourself, manage contractors to deliver maintenance work and plan and control the work of any contractors under your supervision.
  • You will also be expected to join a standby rota for out of hours calls.
Job requirements and experience

  • You also need to be able to manage costs, ensuring maintenance expenditure is within approved budgets and plans, and manage resources effectively.
  • As the business is a 24 hour a day operation, you should be comfortable working outside core hours, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the business.
  • A full and current driving license is essential.
