Our client has a new staff opportunity for an EC&I Designer – Huddersfield.
This is a Permanent position, and candidates MUST be UK nationals.

Role details:
- Take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work.
- Deliver fit-for-purpose, practical Engineering design in line with specifications, budget, and programme.
- Support and promote all company and client site directives – HSEQ, best practice, innovations, continual improvement.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and competence to support the role, aligning with client and industry requirements and directives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce new and update existing detailed EC&I design documentation, including loop diagrams, control panel schematics, field connection diagrams, I/O schedules, control circuits, failsafe circuits, LV power distribution & protection, single line diagrams, control panel GAs and layouts, instrumentation hook-ups, and functional testing procedures.
- Comply with national and site standards.
- Carry out site surveys.
- Compile document work packs.
- Follow company and site procedures related to engineering design, project control, documentation control, procurement, and verification.
- Support activities such as estimating, commissioning, hand-over, and procurement.
- Contribute to team efforts supporting continual improvement.
- Work independently, using own initiative.
Key Requirements:
- ONC / HNC or equivalent in Electrical / Control / Instrumentation / Engineering discipline.
- HSEQ qualification (e.g., IOSH).
- CompEx – ExF (foundation), EXF+ (foundation plus), or Ex01-04 (Gas & Vapours), Ex05-06 (Dust), or Ex12 (Application Design Engineers).
- Functional Safety, IEC61508 – TUV or equivalent.
- BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations - C&G2382-15 or equivalent.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations.
- Minimum 5 years recent experience in an equivalent role.
- Experience in the industrial sector engineering, including COMAH Tier 1 Process Manufacturing Environment, Functional Safety, and ATEX directive.
- Proficiency in engineering design processes from scope, specification, site survey, detailed design, review, approval, to construction, commissioning, and documentation.
- Experience with document control processes and EC&I engineering documentation.
- Knowledge of PLC and DCS systems, equipment and material specification, procurement, and installation processes.
- Strong PC skills including AutoCAD, MS Office, and other drafting and engineering design tools.
