Job description

Job title: EC&I Design Engineer

Job Details:

• Job Type: Permanent
• Start date: As soon as possible, subject to clearance
• Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum + Benefits (Bonus, Pension, Holidays, etc.)
• Location: Huddersfield
• Work Schedule: 5 days per week onsite preferred
• Hours: 37 hours per week

Role & Responsibilities:

1. Take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work.
2. Deliver fit-for-purpose, practical engineering designs in line with specifications, budget, and schedule.
3. Support and promote company and client site directives, including HSEQ, best practices, innovations, and continual improvement.
4. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders.
5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and competence to support the role and align with client and industry requirements.
6. Produce and update detailed EC&I design documentation, including loop diagrams, control panel schematics, field connection diagrams, I/O schedules, control and failsafe circuits, LV power distribution & protection, single line diagrams, control panel GAs and layouts, instrument air distribution, and functional testing procedures.
7. Ensure compliance with national and site standards.
8. Carry out site surveys.
9. Compile document work packs.
10. Follow company and site procedures related to engineering design, project control, documentation, procurement, and verification.
11. Support activities such as estimating, commissioning, hand-over, and procurement.
12. Contribute to team efforts for continual improvement.
13. Work independently, using initiative.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Degree, ONC, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering.
2. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
3. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent HSE qualification.
4. CompEx certification (ExF, ExF+, Ex01-04, Ex05-06, Ex12).
5. Functional Safety (IEC61508) - TUV or equivalent.
6. Understanding of CDM 2015 regulations.
7. Minimum of 5 years experience as an EC&I Design Engineer.
8. Proficiency in AutoCAD.
9. Experience in a COMAH Tier 1 Process Manufacturing Environment.

Additional Requirements:

All candidates must be able to obtain UK National Security Vetting Status - SC Clearance.
