Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is offering an Apprentice EC&I Technician position at the Huntsman plant in Redcar. The role provides hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning of electrical control and instrumentation systems within a CHP environment.

You will work under supervision with a dedicated mentor, developing skills across calibration, testing and site instrumentation while progressing through an approved apprenticeship programme.

Qualifications

• Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English, and Science.
• Demonstrated interest in electrical, controls, and instrumentation technologies.
• Basic electrical knowledge is desirable.
• Commitment to safety and health standards.
• Strong motivation to learn and develop technical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Apprentice role focusing on developing skills to complete the apprenticeship programme with mentor support.
• Assist with maintenance and calibration of site equipment as knowledge grows.
• Work with the site EC&I technician and support operations and other disciplines to ensure uptime.
• Possible rotation to other DES sites to meet developmental and business needs.
• Maintain, plan and perform reactive works using available tools and literature.
• Comply with Safe Systems of Work and approved procedures for safe working.
• Develop a personal portfolio by combining academic study with hands-on experience.
• Carry out calibration and functional testing of instruments under supervision.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and testing of electrical control systems and instrumentation.
