Job Description

Who are we?

Here within the @one Alliance, we are a collaborative organization comprising eight partner companies (Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO) and our extended supply chain. We deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.

We are preparing for our most significant Asset Management Period yet, AMP 8, which will involve delivering a larger programme of work than ever before. We are driving change, setting global benchmarks, and building a better environment, while offering growth and development opportunities for our workforce. We aim to build on our current teams with a focus on career progression.

Our engineering team works on various water and water recycling projects across the region to ensure continuous water supply. The team is diverse and enthusiastic, committed to delivering industry-leading solutions safely and efficiently.

To enhance our mechanical engineering capabilities and incorporate new ideas, we are seeking Mechanical Engineers to join our team over the next year.

What will you be doing as our Mechanical Engineer in Water Recycling?

You will work within a multidisciplinary project team, providing mechanical engineering expertise to develop and deliver water and water recycling TOTEX solutions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of mechanical options, ensuring stakeholder review and risk mitigation while upholding the Project Basis of Design.
  • Perform design calculations for sizing mechanical, hydraulic, power, and building services equipment.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain to assess and understand the latest technologies during optioneering.
  • Develop 3D models and solutions in collaboration with the design team.
  • Oversee outputs such as P&IDs, Data sheets, HAZID and HAZOP studies, and contribute mechanical input to commissioning plans and performance tests.
  • Support health & safety initiatives by producing safe designs compliant with CDM Regulations and standards.
  • Identify opportunities to meet digital, sustainability, innovation, and people objectives.

Skills, experience, and behaviours:

You should hold a minimum of an HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering and have extensive practical design experience in a similar environment. Proven expertise in hydraulic and mechanical system design, understanding modular build and construction processes, and knowledge of electrical control, instrumentation, and switchgear are essential. You should work collaboratively, take responsibility, demonstrate integrity, and be open to adopting new technologies to improve efficiency.

If you are eager to apply your mechanical engineering skills in a dynamic environment where you can add value, please apply today!
