Based at our client’s Head Office, reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role involves joining a payroll team of 3 within a wider finance team of 19. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll (minimum 2 years experience) and granular attention to detail. This friendly working environment requires you to deliver a high-quality, accurate, and timely payroll service to the business.
Part-Time Payroll Officer Main Responsibilities:
- Managing payroll for the European division, with involvement in UK and Scotland payrolls (approx. 2,500 employees).
- Liaising with up to 10 bureaus across Europe monthly and coordinating these third parties along with operations teams in each country within our month-end timeline.
- Entering and importing variable overtime and casual hours.
- Processing new starters and leavers, liaising with payroll bureaus for European payrolls.
- Processing contract amendments.
- Calculating back pay.
- Calculating sick pay manually, considering multiple policies.
- Handling maternity and paternity calculations.
- Calculating gross to net pay manually, not solely relying on the system.
- Producing payroll reports, payslips, P45s, P60s, and statutory year-end returns.
- Preparing and sending monthly payroll reports for approval.
- Preparing BACS authorization forms.
- Supporting payroll and pension administration tasks.
- Running payroll from start to finish, including month-end processes.
- Monitoring email accounts, logging, and resolving payroll queries promptly.
- Supporting continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems.
- Training operations staff on payroll procedures and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience:
At least 2 years payroll experience handling similar volumes. Experience with overseas payroll bureaus is desirable but not essential.
