Job Description

We are looking for an Applications Support Engineer to join our Resource Engineering team. If you are experienced in maintaining operational services for DSX/Vision suite of products, we would love to hear from you.

We seek someone with experience in fault finding for DSX & Vision product suite solutions at both hardware and software levels. This is a fast-paced environment, so managing a changing list of priorities is essential.

Location:

Fareham (Hampshire)

Working Pattern:

2 days 07:00 – 19:00, 2 nights 19:00 – 07:00, 4 days off. 24/7/365 shift pattern.

Purpose of the role:

This role is vital for supporting and maintaining NEC Public Safety solutions as part of a dedicated team.

Reporting to the MCA Communications Systems Support Engineer, the focus is on incident triage, resolution, and proactive maintenance of NEC Public Safety systems.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Fault finding for NEC Public Safety’s DSX & Vision product suite at hardware and software levels.
  • Create, review, and update engineering documentation such as workplans, instructions, and technical guides.
  • Coordinate with third-party providers and internal teams to gather and share information.
  • Work from other MCA locations as needed.
  • Engage with customers on technical and non-technical levels with professionalism and adaptability.
  • Respond to customer queries regarding NEC Public Safety products, operational/configuration issues, or performance.
  • Follow NEC Public Safety and MCA processes and procedures.
  • Complete activities within deadlines and report difficulties in meeting SLAs or milestones.
Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Experience at 1st or 2nd line level in a service desk environment.
  • Experience working in shifts, including day and night rotations.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server up to 2016.
  • Knowledge of MSSQL applications.
  • Practical TCP/IP network support experience.
  • Experience with MS Office applications like Excel, Visio, Word.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience working with ITIL best practices.
