Job Description:

A leading food manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join the business. This role will report to the Senior Buyer and support the Purchasing Manager with the execution of short, medium, and long-term purchasing strategies to maximise business competitiveness in line with business requirements.

This role requires someone with Purchasing experience in a food manufacturing environment. The client cannot recruit someone on a work visa.

The Purchasing Assistant / Junior Buyer will develop effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and complete all procurement administration.

Purchasing Assistant / Junior Buyer responsibilities include:

• Support with the preparation for tenders
• Support with Contract Balance Management, maintaining accurate records of volumes through regular updates with suppliers
• Administration of Tropos (MRP platform), inputting contracts, forecasting information, keeping data up to date, and raising purchase orders
• Support sourcing and managing new raw material and packaging requests
• Manage and provide sample lead time, pricing, and specifications, and complete new product information forms in a timely manner
• Support managing key raw material forecasts by communicating with suppliers
• Procurement administration duties, including administration for supplier contracts, recording approved suppliers and spend for each
• Manage ingredient trial requests
• Manage all NPD requests from chefs and the NPD team
• Manage the specification process with suppliers and internal teams for approval
• Support the development and maintenance of excellent supplier relationships with key strategic/critical suppliers
• Seek ways to source quality, cost-effective raw materials to meet market requirements and ensure customer satisfaction
• Liaise with the Technical Department over supplier assurance protocols to ensure compliance and manage SLAs
