Job summary

Thompson Tractor seeks a Preventive Maintenance Field Technician – Earthmoving to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and loaders. A strong safety focus and ability to work in demanding field conditions are essential.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, independent work, and effective communication with customers. Training, certification, and ongoing professional development are provided to advance in the technician program.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• A minimum of one year work experience involving mechanical repairs or related education.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.
• Med Card and CDL preferred.
• MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; remove and install components.
• Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify issues and develop repair solutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks including fluid changes, filters, and lubrication.
• Maintain accurate service reports, work orders, and documentation.
