Job summary

GSL Education is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant for a Greenwich school. You will support young children with learning through play, work with teachers to deliver engaging early years activities, and help develop social and communication skills in a warm, inclusive setting.

The role requires safeguarding knowledge, an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply), and a patient, proactive approach to support children’s development and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in an Early Years or primary setting is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply is required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Safeguarding knowledge and background safety checks are mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Support children with learning and play-based activities within the classroom.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering Early Years lessons and activities.
  • Help children develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support as needed.
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Working Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:45 PM

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Greenwich.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and is committed to supporting their learning, development, and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment within the Early Years setting.

Responsibilities of an Early Years Teaching Assistant:
  • Support children with learning and play-based activities within the classroom
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging Early Years lessons and activities
  • Help children develop social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Support students on a one-to-one and small group basis when required
  • Encourage positive behaviour and classroom engagement
  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and learning materials
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents where necessary
Requirements of an Early Years Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience working with children within an Early Years or primary school setting is desirable
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is beneficial
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach
  • Genuine passion for supporting young children's development and learning
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
