Job summary

GSL Education in Hull is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support learning across educational settings. The role is temporary, full-time, with a start as soon as possible and a daily rate of £92–£115 depending on experience.

You will work with teaching staff to provide a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for young children, helping them build confidence and develop essential skills at the early stages of their education.

Qualifications

• Experience with young children in Early Years settings is desirable.
• A Level 2/3 Early Years, Childcare, or Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
• A warm, patient, nurturing approach with the ability to build relationships.
• Good understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
• An Enhanced DBS registered with Update Service, or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Support children through play-based activities that foster learning and development.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support based on individual needs.
• Assist teachers with preparing activities, resources, and engaging learning.
• Encourage positive social skills, confidence, independence, and behaviour.
• Observe and report observations to teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding.

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to work across educational settings in Hull.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys creating engaging learning experiences and supporting children during the important early stages of their education. You will work alongside teaching staff to provide a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can develop at their own pace.

Main Responsibilities:

• Support children through play-based activities that encourage their learning, curiosity, communication, and development.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support based on individual learning and developmental needs.
• Assist teachers with preparing activities, classroom resources, and engaging learning opportunities.
• Encourage positive social skills, confidence, independence, and appropriate behaviour.
• Observe children's engagement and development, sharing relevant observations with teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

• Previous experience working with young children in an Early Years, nursery, school, childcare, or similar setting is desirable.
• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years, Childcare, or Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
• A warm, patient, and nurturing approach with the ability to build positive relationships with young children.
• Good understanding of early childhood development and the value of play-based learning.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills with a reliable and proactive attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
