Job summary

GUARDIAN SELECTION LIMITED is seeking an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children across settings in Hull. You will work with teachers to deliver play-based activities, promote learning, and help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom.

A Level 2/3 Early Years qualification and safeguarding awareness are desirable, with DBS checks encouraged. Starting as soon as possible, the role offers a flexible, temporary to permanent pathway and competitive daily rates based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Support children through play-based activities that promote learning and development.

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting a caring and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant to work across educational settings in Hull.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys creating engaging learning experiences and supporting children during the important early stages of their education. You will work alongside teaching staff to provide a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment where every child can develop at their own pace.

Main Responsibilities:

• Support children through play-based activities that encourage their learning, curiosity, communication, and development.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support based on individual learning and developmental needs.
• Assist teachers with preparing activities, classroom resources, and engaging learning opportunities.
• Encourage positive social skills, confidence, independence, and appropriate behaviour.
• Observe children’s engagement and development, sharing relevant observations with teaching staff.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding procedures.
• Previous experience working with young children in an Early Years, nursery, school, childcare, or similar setting is desirable.
• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years, Childcare, or Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
• A warm, patient, and nurturing approach with the ability to build positive relationships with young children.
• Good understanding of early childhood development and the value of play-based learning.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills with a reliable and proactive attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
