Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting an Early Years Teaching Assistant for a Birmingham primary school. Based in Edgbaston, you will support the nursery team with EYFS lessons and play-based activities. You will work 1:1, in small groups and with the whole class, helping children develop communication, literacy and numeracy.

A Level 3 childcare qualification and EYFS experience are required. This is a full-time, long-term temporary role starting 01/09/2026, Monday to Friday, term-time only, with a

  • A Level 3 qualification in a childcare-related subject.
  • Previous experience supporting children within an EYFS or Reception setting.
  • Patient, proactive and enthusiastic approach to supporting young learners.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Genuine passion for early years education and child development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS lessons and continuous provision activities.
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, and as part of whole-class learning.
  • Encourage learning through play, exploration, and child-led activities.
  • Support the development of children's communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
  • Observe and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.
  • Help prepare learning resources and maintain an organised, stimulating classroom environment.

Daily Pay Rate: £110 - 120
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Are you a passionate and nurturing Early Years Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new opportunity this September?
Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Birmingham to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their Nursery team on a long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children at the very beginning of their education, helping them develop their confidence, communication, independence and love of learning through engaging, play-based activities.



  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging EYFS lessons and continuous provision activities.

  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, and as part of whole-class learning.

  • Encourage learning through play, exploration, and child-led activities.

  • Support the development of children's communication, literacy, numeracy, and social skills.
