Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting an Early Years Teaching Assistant to support learning in NP7 and surrounding areas, starting September 2026. The role covers Nursery and Reception settings across primary schools and nurseries.

You will assist with EYFS activities, support 1:1 and small groups, and help develop communication, language and social skills while safeguarding and promoting wellbeing. It offers flexible full-time, part-time or hybrid opportunities with competitive daily pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in any capacity.
  • Passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Knowledge of EYFS principles is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2/3, Childcare, Health & Social Care or similar qualification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils within Nursery and Reception classes.
  • Assist with engaging EYFS activities and learning through play.
  • Encourage communication, language and social development.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils, including those with ALN/SEN.
  • Support emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
  • Assist with classroom routines and personal care where required.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Support indoor and outdoor learning activities.

Location: NP7 and surrounding areas (Abergavenny, Pontypool, Mamhilad and nearby locations)

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Part-time & Flexible Opportunities Available

Pay: From £92 per day (paid weekly via PAYE)

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and caring Early Years Teaching Assistants to work across a variety of primary schools, nursery settings and Reception classes throughout the NP7 area.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in childcare, nurseries, preschools, playgroups, holiday clubs, coaching, care work, youth work, or school settings who are passionate about supporting young children's development and education.

Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant or looking to transfer your childcare skills into the classroom, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As an Early Years Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing during the crucial early stages of their education.

Responsibilities include
  • Supporting pupils within Nursery and Reception classes
