Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is recruiting an Early Years SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in the Merton SM4 area, supporting children aged 3-19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, PMLD, Autism, and physical and sensory disabilities. The role is based in the Early Years provision, offering a nurturing environment for developing communication and independence.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, follow EHCPs and work with teachers and therapists to support

Qualifications

• Experience working with Early Years children.
• Experience supporting children with complex SEN, PMLD, Autism or profound learning difficulties is desirable.
• Patient, nurturing and compassionate approach.
• Ability to support children with physical, sensory or communication needs.
• Understanding of individualised and sensory-based learning.
• Calm and adaptable in a specialist environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• DBS disclosure is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to children within the Early Years setting.
• Support pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, PMLD, Autism and physical or sensory disabilities.
• Support children's communication, sensory development, independence and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with play-based, sensory and structured learning activities.
• Use communication and sensory strategies to support engagement.
• Support children with physical and mobility needs when required.
• Assist with personal care and complex health needs following training.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Follow EHCPs, learning plans and care plans.
• Work with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals and the wider SEN team.
• Monitor pupil engagement, development and progress.
• Maintain a safe, calm and stimulating learning environment.
