Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment in Great Barr, Birmingham is seeking an experienced Early Years Room Leader to head the Tweenies Room (17 months to 2 years) in a nurturing nursery.

You will lead practitioners, ensure EYFS compliance, plan play-based activities, and build strong partnerships with families. This is a permanent, 40-hour-per-week role starting ASAP with salary £28,000–£30,000 dependent on experience.

• Previous Room Leader experience
• Experience in a nursery or EY setting
• Confident understanding of the EYFS framework

• Observe, assess, and plan for each child's individual progress
• Work in partnership with families to ensure continuity of care
• Promote safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery procedures at all times

The Role

As the Room Leader for the Tweenies Room, you will manage the day-to-day organisation of the room, providing strong leadership and guidance to practitioners in your team. Your focus will be on ensuring each child receives high-quality care and stimulating learning experiences tailored to their age and developmental stage.

Skills and Experience

You will be an effective Room Leader with the following:

• Level 3 Early Years qualification essential
• Previous experience as a Room Leader essential
• Experience in a nursery or Early Years setting
• Confident understanding of the EYFS framework
• Paediatric First Aid qualification
• Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification, or willingness to complete upon starting
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Warm, nurturing, and enthusiastic approach to children and families
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and quality care
