PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
Under the overall direction and management of the Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, and Day Care Manager, to implement high-quality early years practice and provision to support all children in reaching their full potential, particularly in the prime areas of learning and development across all centre services.
Scale 6: Take responsibility for leading and coordinating an area of the centre's services under the direction of senior management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children in your care and those you come into contact with.
- To undertake child protection training at a level appropriate to the role.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining a child-centred, play-based provision that fosters emotional stability, independence, autonomy, and creativity.
- Foster positive relationships and collaborate with professionals to promote access to integrated services, including completing assessments and participating in team meetings.
- Develop partnerships with parents to involve them in their child's education and ensure smooth transitions.
- Act as a key person for a group of children, providing continuity of care and supporting their development through observation and assessment.
- Develop positive behaviour strategies.
- Attend and participate in CPD activities, sharing knowledge and leading development in relevant areas.
- Uphold principles of inclusion and equal opportunities, supporting early identification and intervention.
- Contribute to planning, observation, assessment, and record-keeping systems.
- Engage with policies and procedures development.
- Utilize expertise within the setting and external agencies to meet children's needs.
- Stay updated with best practices and policies.
- Lead and coordinate service areas, using evaluative tools and supporting staff.
- Perform other duties as directed, including working flexibly.
- Ensure service provision aligns with high-quality standards and legal requirements.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Demonstrate skills, knowledge, and experience as per the criteria below in your application:
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare/early years with relevant placements.
- Desirable: Foundation Degree in early childhood studies or equivalent, substantial post-qualifying experience, GCSEs in English, Room Lead experience.
Knowledge and skills include safeguarding, developmentally appropriate practice, promoting inclusive environments, effective communication, teamwork, and IT proficiency.
