Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Manor Nursery in Southampton is seeking warm, patient and curious Early Years Practitioners to join our team. The role offers 40 hours across four days, with 4 working days and 3 days off weekly, supporting a healthy work–life balance.

We welcome applicants with Level 2 or Level 3 EY qualifications, or those studying towards one. Children from babies to preschoolers enjoy outdoor play, nature and play-based learning within the EYFS framework.

Qualifications

• Qualified Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Practitioner or studying towards one
• Experience in education, SEND, youth work, healthcare, coaching, community services or care
• Caring, dependable, curious and committed to helping children grow in confidence and independence

Responsibilities

• Build warm and secure relationships with children
• Help every child feel they belong
• Support children’s confidence, independence and emotional development
• Create engaging learning opportunities through play
• Follow children’s interests and turn everyday experiences into discovery
• Support communication, language and social development
• Observe children’s development and use findings to plan next steps
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive nursery environment
• Work closely with colleagues and share good practice
