Job summary

Crossmichael and Parton Nursery is seeking a dedicated Practitioner to join our team. You will provide safe, high-quality early learning and childcare during term-time, 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

The role focuses on supporting children's development, wellbeing and family engagement. Applicants should have the SVQ Level 3 in Early Years/Childcare or equivalent, with PVG membership and SSSC registration being required.

Qualifications

  • Maintain SSSC registration and comply with the SSSC Code of Practice.
  • Take part in PVG Scheme requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION : PRACTITIONER

Hours

35 hours per week

Working pattern

Monday – Friday, term time

Job Purpose

To work as part of the nursery team, providing a safe, caring and high-quality early learning and childcare service that meets the needs of children and their families.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and evaluate age-appropriate learning experiences.
  • Prepare resources and support children’s learning and development.
  • Promote the wellbeing, care and safety of all children.
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children.
  • Work with colleagues to plan and deliver high-quality experiences.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Contribute to self-evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Support the Manager with Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland requirements.
  • Follow all nursery policies, procedures and relevant guidance.
Children, Parents and Teamwork
  • Recognise and respond to each child’s individual needs.
  • Promote children’s rights, wellbeing, confidence and independence.
  • Maintain positive communication with parents and carers.
  • Raise any concerns regarding children with the Manager.
  • Work positively as part of the nursery team and attend meetings and planning sessions as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Health, Safety and Hygiene
  • Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
  • Carry out appropriate safety checks and report hazards or damaged equipment.
  • Record accidents and incidents accurately.
  • Follow health, safety, hygiene and safeguarding procedures.
Training and Professional Requirements
  • Maintain SSSC registration and comply with the SSSC Code of Practice.
  • Complete required training, including First Aid, Food Hygiene and Child Protection.
  • Take part in ongoing training and professional development.
  • The successful applicant will be required to join the PVG Scheme.
