Job summary

The Tigers Group in Glasgow is seeking a Qualified Early Years Practitioner to join our team. You will contribute to high standards of learning, development and care for children aged 0-5, under guidance from the Nursery Manager.

The role focuses on safe, nurturing environments indoors and outdoors, supporting families at drop-off and pick-up, and delivering stimulating activities. Essential qualifications include a minimum HNC/SVQ Level 3 in Childcare, PVG/SSSC registration and knowledge of

Qualifications

  • Hold a minimum HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Childcare.
  • A current PVG and SSSC registration.
  • Knowledge of GIRFEC, Pre-Birth to Three and Child Development with examples.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure environments are safe, nurturing and engaging indoors and outdoors.
  • Meet families at drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Be responsive to the emotional needs of children and families during transitions.
  • Plan stimulating activities to help children thrive.
  • Prepare lunch and snacks.
  • Undertake risk assessments.
  • Complete daily paperwork including risk assessments, registers and room temperatures.
  • Complete observations and update the learning log system.
  • Support new children to settle into the nursery environment.
  • Liaise with families about activities and progress; conduct home visits as needed.

Education

HNC/SVQ Level 3 in Childcare
PVG and SSSC registration

Job role: Qualified Early Years Practitioner

Reports to: Nursery Manager

Lullaby:

Our Early Years Practitioners are responsible for providing a high standard of learning, development and care for our children, which is steeped in the knowledge of attachment theory and early brain development. Supported by our Nursery Manager and Team Leader, our team will nurture environments that are emotionally and physically safe.

Lullaby Lane Nurseries is an Attachment Led Nursery, based in Hogganfield, Glasgow specialising in the care of children aged 0-5 years old, the most formative years of a child’s life. There is a wealth of research to indicate the environment a child is exposed to, in the very earliest of years, has an impact on how they develop cognitively, emotionally and socially, which they take with them through into adulthood.

Role of the Early Years Practitioner:

  • To ensure our environments are safe, nurturing and engaging both indoors and outdoors
  • To meet with our families at drop off and pick up times
  • Provide a high level of awareness to transition periods and be responsive to the emotional needs of our children and families during this time
  • Plan stimulating and engaging activities for our children to thrive
  • Prepare lunch and snacks
  • Undertake risk assessments
  • Complete daily paperwork, including but not limited to, risk assessments, registers and room temperatures
  • Complete observations for our children and update our learning log system
  • Be involved in supporting new children to settle into our nursery environment
  • Complete home visits as and when appropriate
  • Liaise closely with our families, informing them of activities and exchanging information about progress

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Hold a minimum HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Childcare
  • A current PVG and SSSC registration
  • Have knowledge of GIRFEC, Pre-Birth to Three and Child Development and be able to give examples of use in practice
