Job summary

Scottish Borders Council invites applications for an Early Years Officer at Cockburnspath Nursery on a temporary maternity cover basis. The role leads nursery staff and collaborates with school and ELC colleagues to plan and deliver Early Learning and Childcare.

The post focuses on developing high quality relationships to support children’s wellbeing and cognitive development, within a rural nursery setting.

Qualifications

• HNC in Childhood Practice/Childcare and Education.
• SVQ 3 Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 7.
• SVQ 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development.
• SNNEB/NNEB.
• BA Childhood Practice (one of the following).
• PDA 8 or 9 in Childhood Practice/Early Education and Childcare.
• SVQ4 Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF 9.
• SVQ4 Children's Care, Learning and Development.
• Must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Lead other staff in the Nursery under the head teacher and work with school staff and early learning and childcare teachers to plan and deliver ELC.
• Develop high quality relationships and interactions with children to promote wellbeing and extend thinking.
