Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a part-time Early Years Assistant for Colinton Primary School Nursery. The role supports early learning and welfare of children, working 32 hours per week across 39 weeks per year. Salary is £26,806–£27,032 pro rata.

You will build nurturing relationships and work with families and the wider school team to provide high-quality learning experiences. Applicants should be registered with SSSC or equivalent and aim to achieve SVQ level 2 within 3 years.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Early Years Assistant is desirable.
• Must register with SSSC or equivalent and gain SVQ level 2 within 3 years.
• Good basic education with Maths/English to SQA standard grade or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and families.
• Support children's learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality play and learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, early years staff and the wider school team.
• Support inclusion of children with additional support needs.
• Contribute to a welcoming indoor and outdoor learning environment.
• Be flexible and respond to the needs of the children and school.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Early Years Officer or Head Teacher
