Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking an Early Years Assistant for Colinton Primary School Nursery. You will work with the Early Years Team to deliver high-quality, play-based learning and help each child reach their full potential.

Experience is desirable, with a requirement to be registered with SSSC or equivalent and to gain SVQ Level 2 within 3 years. Strong maths and English, plus good communication, planning and organisational skills, are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Early Years Assistant is desirable.
• Must register with the SSSC or equivalent and gain SVQ level 2 within 3 years.
• Good basic education and Maths/English to SQA standard grade level or equivalent.
• Good communication skills, verbal and written, with planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and families.
• Support children’s learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality play and learning experiences.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, early years practitioners and other members of the wider school team.
• Support the inclusion and participation of children with additional support needs.
• Contribute to our welcoming indoor and outdoor learning environment.
• Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the wider school.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Early Years Officer or Head Teacher
