The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a part-time Early Years Assistant for Colinton Primary School Nursery. The role supports early learning and welfare of children, working 32 hours per week across 39 weeks per year. Salary is £26,806–£27,032 pro rata.

You will build nurturing relationships and work with families and the wider school team to provide high-quality learning experiences. Applicants should be registered with SSSC or equivalent and aim to achieve SVQ level 2 within 3 years.

Qualifications

  • Experience as an Early Years Assistant is desirable.
  • Must register with SSSC or equivalent and gain SVQ level 2 within 3 years.
  • Good basic education with Maths/English to SQA standard grade or equivalent.

Early Years Assistant
Colinton Primary School Nursery

Salary: £26,806-£27,032 (pro rata for sessional)
Hours: 32 per week, 39 weeks per year

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and committed practitioners to join our Early Years Team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide high-quality learning experiences and ensure that every child is supported to reach their full potential.

The role will involve supporting theeducational, care and welfare needs of all children, helping to create an environment where children feel safe, valued, confident and ready to learn.

Working as part of our team, you will:

  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and families.
  • Support children’s learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality play and learning experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, early years practitioners and other members of the wider school team.
  • Support the inclusion and participation of children with additional support needs.
  • Contribute to our welcoming indoor and outdoor learning environment.
  • Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the children and the wider school.
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the Early Years Officer or Head Teacher

Experience of working as an Early Years Assistant is desirable. There is a requirement to be registered with SSSC or equivalent and gain a SVQ level 2 qualification within 3 years. Good basic education and standard of Maths and English to SQA standard grade level or equivalent, or previous relevant experience is required. Good communication skills, verbal and written, is required, together with planning and organisational skills.
