Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join the family-run nursery. Are you passionate about wanting children to have the best start in their Early Years learning and development? Are you enthusiastic about wanting to know how children learn, and how you can teach them through play? Do you want to work in a nursery setting with a family vibe? If the answer is yes, then please contact us to be considered to work as an Apprentice in our nursery setting.

Full-time employment and potentially onto a higher-level qualification.

Responsibilities:
  • Work towards & achieve NVQ 2 or equivalent within timescale agreed by the training provider & employer.
  • Adhere to the policies & procedures of The Bridge Day Nursery and compliance with the Children Act, Health & Safety legislation, and within the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage Welfare requirements.
  • Gain a paediatric 1st aid certificate.
  • Participate in other necessary training.
  • Work & interact with children.
  • Work well within a team.
  • Liaise with parents.
  • Deliver exceptional learning opportunities and care that help young children to develop.
  • Plan and provide teaching and learning that prepares children for their next stage in life.
  • Observe children, plan developmental next steps for each child and individualised learning plans in accordance with Early Years Foundation Stage learning & development.
  • Help develop and deliver Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for all the children in your care.
  • Keep up-to-date individual records of key children.
  • Plan session/daily/medium-term plans and then do this independently within timescale set by supervisor.
  • Set up an exciting, enabling environment for children indoors & outdoors, and do this independently within timescale set by supervisor.
  • Interact and respond to children’s play.
  • Communicate with children at a level they understand.
  • Check toys & equipment, maintain a clean, safe & secure environment.
  • Prepare activities in advance.
  • Prepare snacks & fruit.
  • Work positively as a team member and be included in staff duty Rota’s.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Be a reliable and enthusiastic member of the team.
  • Help settle in new children & liaise with their parents. Always end conversations with parents on a positive note.
  • Conform to nursery dress code.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.
  • Take on whatever duties are deemed necessary for the smooth running of the nursery.
  • Encourage children at mealtimes.
  • Put into practice nursery policies.
  • Have a sense of humour.
  • Be a good communicator.

Full training will be given within the nursery setting, with Rochdale training completing the training onsite at the nursery location, working towards a level 2 standard. You will also complete safeguarding training and health and safety.

Monday to Friday, hours between 7:45 am and 6:00 pm, totaling 37 hours.
