Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a General Assistant to support our chef team and assist with everyday kitchen duties across the shift. You will help with food preparation, maintain cleanliness, handle deliveries, and sometimes serve customers at events.

The role values basic catering knowledge, strong time management, and the ability to work under pressure. Flexibility to move shifts as required is beneficial for this position.

Qualifications

• Commercial kitchen experience is valued but not essential.
• Excellent time management skills and can work under pressure.
• Excellent organisational skills are important.
• Able to stand for extended periods as the job is physically demanding.

Responsibilities

• Help with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and making sandwiches and salads.
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area and equipment, including cleaning utensils, tableware and catering stations.
• Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries, ensuring food and supply storage areas are organised.
• Serve food items to customers in accordance with the menu prepared by the Chefs; may act as host/waiter at events.
• Top up vending services.
