Job Details

Position: Teaching Assistant / Support Worker (Full Time, Term Time Only)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 3:10pm (hours non-negotiable)

Additional roles: Bank/Supply roles available

Salary: NMW / Level 2 Teaching Assistant Salary

Requirements: DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for a new DBS

About the Role

We are recruiting for Teaching Assistants and Support Workers to work at Leicester-based Special Needs Schools. The roles involve working 1:1 with children experiencing challenging behaviors, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, and others at risk of harm or with attachment difficulties.

Preferred candidates include those with experience in mental health, care, youth work, social care, or sports coaching, especially if trained in SEN. Applications from Psychology, Criminology graduates, or individuals with personal experience supporting vulnerable individuals are encouraged.

The responsibilities include:

1. Providing 1:1 behavior support to students with challenging behaviors and SEN needs
2. Managing and implementing strategies to handle challenging behaviors
3. Acting as a positive role model and offering nurture support
4. Providing literacy and numeracy booster sessions outside the classroom
5. De-escalating volatile situations
6. Supporting students across primary and secondary phases

The ideal candidate will have experience working with challenging behaviors in educational or support settings. Personal experience with mental health, SEMH, or Autism is highly valued. This is a temporary role with potential for permanent placement for the right candidate.
