Purpose of the Role
The role will include but is not limited to:
- Tester in Charge Duties as per NR/L2/30014
- Principles testing
- Provide Functional and system testing support where required
- Developing strategies for signalling schemes
- Producing estimates for testing activities
- Development of testing staff
Person Specification
The minimum requirement upon entry is an IRSE licence in the following categories:
- 1.3.170, 1.3.190, with 1.3.180 advantageous
- Typically 5-7 years of signalling testing experience, preceded by suitable design, construction, or maintenance experience, or substantial experience in a similar role.
- Certificates/licenses required or in progress: PTS AC, DCCR, ICI, COSS/SWL, Driving Licence, Emergency Life Support, Fire Awareness, Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, IOSH Working/Managing Safely, SPWEE, OLEC 1, and various Modular Testing Certifications (1, 2, 3B, 4).
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Tester in Charge and Principles Testing duties within authority limits per NR/L2/SIG/30014, company standards, and IRSE requirements.
- Plan and execute testing activities accordingly.
- Brief staff on testing activities in a timely manner.
- Ensure test equipment is correctly calibrated and documented.
- Conduct testing in accordance with the approved Testing Specification.
- Report any undue pressure or coercion during testing.
- Adapt to organizational changes as required.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
