Job Title: Mine Shift Manager

Location: East Leake, East Midlands, United Kingdom

At British Gypsum, part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS), we are seeking an inspiring leader to join our team as a Mine Shift Manager. This role reports to the Mine Production Manager and involves managing personnel and equipment at the mine, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise all personnel at the mine effectively.
• Operate in a safe and economical manner, complying with mining legislation, company policies, and managerial rules.
• Deploy personnel and resources to meet mine requirements safely.
• Supervise contractors on site.
• Complete statutory shift reports according to mine regulations.
• Identify training needs and coordinate development activities.
• Communicate safety and production instructions to the team.
• Ensure smooth shift handovers and communication with senior management.
• Liaise with Surface Plant to ensure quality and quantity of rock for production or dispatch.
• Promote continuous improvement using WCM tools.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in underground mining (engineering or production), with supervisory qualifications such as Level 4 Diploma in Supervision of Underground Mining Activities or equivalent.
• People management experience.
• Self-motivated with initiative.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of major mining hazards (e.g., Ground Control, Mine Ventilation).
