Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint Junior Clinical Fellow in Stroke/Neuro to join our team to cover vacancy. The appointment is to commence on 6th August 2025 for a fixed term period of 12 months.
This post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.
The duties of this post are equivalent to Foundation Year 2 / Core Trainee level.
Main duties of the job
Based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, the Clinical Neuroscience service caters to South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Lincolnshire, and North Nottinghamshire, serving over 2.2 million people. It encompasses Neurology, Neurosurgery, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, and Neurophysiology.
As the Trust's first Academic Directorate, the unit emphasizes research, structured around seven themes: neurodegeneration, cerebrovascular (including stroke), neuroinflammation, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neurophysiology, and industry/commercial research. These activities are led by research theme leaders and the Academic Director.

Job responsibilities
This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
Taking patient histories and performing examinations in outpatient clinics (TIA and acute neurology clinics), followed by presenting cases to the consultant.
Prescribing medications, arranging appropriate investigations, and preparing discharge summaries, including discharge medications (TTOs).
Attending ward rounds, documenting notes, and performing general ward duties, such as managing sick or deteriorating patients, updating relatives, and following up on test results.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical skills while working within a supportive and dynamic team.
