Primary SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant - Leicester

Position: Primary SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Leicester

Salary: £90 - £100 per day

Contract Type: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Primary SEN (Special Educational Needs) Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive school community in Leicester. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent or soon-to-be graduate who is passionate about supporting children with diverse learning needs.

As a Primary SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of learning, social, or emotional needs, providing tailored support to ensure they thrive academically and personally. You will assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, offering one-on-one or small group support, and helping to create an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored lesson plans, helping students engage with the curriculum.
  • Support students with tasks that improve their academic and social development.
  • Monitor and track student progress, working closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports students' needs.
  • Work alongside the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement personalised strategies for students.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree (of any kind) - candidates must either be nearing completion of their degree or have already graduated.
  • Ideally, experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the specific needs of the children in your care.
