Job Title: Water Sampling Technician

Salary: £33,355

Location: Quarry Hill Water Treatment Works, Mealsgate, Wigton, Cumbria, CA7 1AE

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Responsibilities
  1. Manage and execute sampling activities for regulatory and operational purposes, including field testing in accordance with UKAS accreditation standards.
  2. Collect and transport samples from various points ('source to tap', 'bath to bay') for testing and evidence provision to stakeholders and regulators.
  3. Coordinate daily sampling tasks, liaising with internal teams to ensure timely and compliant operations.
  4. Perform field tests, interpret results, and ensure proper documentation and data entry.
  5. Maintain health, safety, and security standards during sampling activities.
  6. Engage with customers positively, explaining test results, and providing excellent service.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in customer interaction and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of UKAS and DWI standards and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and understanding of water treatment principles.
  • Valid driving license and relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2 or GCSEs in Maths, English, Science).
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including bank holidays, with applicable shift premiums.
