Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Remote, with occasional travel to our Brighton Head Office

The Deputy Registrar is a key member of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE) Office, responsible for assisting the Academic Registrar, other Deputy Registrars, and colleagues in overseeing academic quality and standards globally.

You will work closely with International Study Centres (ISCs) to advise on quality assurance, ensuring adherence to Study Group’s standards. As Deputy Registrar, you will oversee the operation of Study Group’s Academic Governance, serving as Secretary to the Academic Board and its sub-committees. This involves collaborating with board chairs, members, and senior colleagues, scheduling meetings, and managing information dissemination.

We welcome applications from candidates with 1-2 years of experience beginning their careers in academic quality roles.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Act as Secretary for various academic and quality committees, including the Academic Board, Quality Learning and Teaching Committee, Student Experience Committee, and others.
  • Prepare and distribute agendas and meeting papers timely.
  • Record key decisions and circulate minutes promptly.
  • Ensure actions are reported and followed up.
  • Draft formal minutes and follow-up communications.
  • Monitor members’ terms of appointment.
  • Advise internal senior managers on governance best practices.
  • Build positive relationships within ISCs and the wider network.
  • Embed quality assurance procedures effectively at ISCs.
  • Communicate risks and improvements, ensuring mitigations are in place.
  • Coordinate approval and monitoring processes for centres.
  • Support the delivery of QAE Office projects.
  • Attend and produce reports for approval events and panels.
  • Prepare reports and papers for governance committees.
  • Contribute to improving approval and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Serve as the first contact for governance issues across the network.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of the QAE Office.
ABOUT YOU
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance or compliance within education.
  • Leadership experience in developing teams and gaining buy-in.
  • Proven ability to implement change and new procedures.
  • Strong understanding of governance and decision-making processes.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead projects with purpose and clarity.
  • Influencing skills and willingness to challenge assumptions.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to fast-changing environments.
  • Knowledge of UK higher education regulation (desirable).
  • Knowledge of European higher education regulation (desirable).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
