Senior Legal Officer

We are seeking a Senior Legal Officer to support our organisation's grant giving and contracting functions. If you are passionate about making an impact and improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families, we encourage you to apply.

Position Details

• Location: London/hybrid
• Hours: Full-time 35 hours/week (part-time considered)
• Salary: £53,300 per annum, plus benefits
• Contract: 12 months fixed-term (possible extension)
• Closing Date: 18th May 2025
• Interviews: Wed 28th May

The Role

Join an independent What Works Centre, funded by the Department for Education and other governmental and philanthropic sources. Your role will involve supporting the grant and contracting functions within the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Review and update grant and service agreement templates for compliance.
2. Prepare internal guidance on contract template usage.
3. Maintain a register of variations to standard terms and conditions.
4. Advise on due diligence and legal considerations for collaborations with partners such as charities, research institutes, and government bodies.
5. Assist project teams in establishing new agreements and managing existing ones.
6. Provide organisation-wide training on terms and contract management.
7. Develop compliant and future-proof contracting processes.
8. Coordinate with external legal advisors.
9. Work with the finance team to ensure funding disbursements comply with agreements and legal requirements.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have a law degree or equivalent, with experience in contract law within a not-for-profit or grant-making environment.
