About the Role

Our Environmental Team is expanding, seeking an experienced professional with extensive energy and renewables sector expertise. The role involves managing environmental compliance and sustainability efforts related to Development Consent Orders (DCOs) for renewable energy projects such as wind and solar. The candidate should have a strong understanding of environmental regulations, coordination skills across teams, and experience managing complex assessments and documentation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop client relationships with the Sector Director for Energy.
  • Engage in business development to secure new opportunities.
  • Manage a team of EIA practitioners in project delivery.
  • Lead coordination, preparation, and submission of DCOs and similar applications for renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, legal teams, and regulators to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor application progress and liaise with authorities.
  • Ensure projects meet environmental standards and regulations.
  • Prepare environmental reports and assessments, including EIAs and HRAs.
  • Work with internal teams and stakeholders to promote sustainable practices.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impacts and contribute to sustainability goals.
  • Stay updated on environmental policies, renewable technologies, and industry trends.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Qualifications
  • Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or similar degree.
  • Member of relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA).
  • Chartered Environmentalist or Scientist (preferred).
Experience
  • Proven experience with private/public sector clients in consultancy.
  • Experience with DCOs and navigating regulatory frameworks in energy/infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with government agencies and community engagement (preferred).
Skills
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative approach with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and lead others.
  • Full UK driver's license.
  • Experience with supply chain partnerships and environmental procurement (preferred).
