West Yorkshire Joint Services (WYJS) is situated within a unique and diverse urban area comprising five West Yorkshire local authorities – Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, and Wakefield. Located centrally in the UK, West Yorkshire boasts a rich history and serves as a major commercial and cultural hub, surrounded by scenic valleys such as Airedale, Wharfedale, and the deeply etched valleys of the Rivers Aire and Calder, descending from the Pennines.

For over thirty years, WYJS, led by a joint committee, has delivered a wide range of shared services on behalf of the five local authorities, benefiting both the public and private sectors. These services include statutory roles like Archaeological Advisory Services, Archives, Ecology Services, and Trading Standards, as well as commercial services such as Archaeological Services and Calibration Services, providing vital support to local and national businesses.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual with proven expertise in Local Authority financial management, capable of managing resources effectively.

The role involves overseeing revenue and capital budget monitoring, forecasting, and reporting. You will provide professional financial and management accounting support to Budget Holders and Managers within WYJS. Additionally, you will lead the cost-benefit analysis of projects and conduct financial and investment appraisals for major capital developments. The post also includes managing the delivery of Facilities Management across all WYJS sites.
