Curriculum Manager - Social Science (Psychology, Sociology, Criminology)

Salary:

£29,074.42 - £42,579.53 Full Time Equivalent plus £4,000 allowance per annum

Hours of work:

35 hours per week (inclusive of teaching and prep time) circa 14 hours per week remission, 52 weeks per year, Permanent

About the role:

We are seeking to recruit a Curriculum Manager for Social Science (Sociology, Psychology and/or Criminology). This is a great opportunity for someone to gain some management experience and step up to a Curriculum Management role.

While having high standards of teaching themselves, the role centres on managing the excellent delivery of learning & support for both students and staff in the area. You will monitor student progress, evaluate teaching methods and implement quality improvement strategies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, student outcomes and success. You would work closely with the college to design and update curriculum content, ensuring it meets regulatory standards, industry requirements and educational objectives. This includes integrating current curriculum content, technologies and research into the curriculum. Additionally, you will collaborate with external partners such as local businesses and universities to stay abreast of industry trends and ensure courses are relevant to the destinations of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of academic staff providing guidance, support and professional development opportunities to ensure effective teaching and student support, whilst also maintaining an active teaching role within the department
  • Monitor key performance indicators including achievement, retention, recruitment, progression and attendance to achieve excellence across the curriculum area
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that encourages innovation, creativity and continuous improvement in curriculum delivery and student engagement
  • Coordinate team efforts to develop and implement student support strategies such as tutoring programmes, academic advising and learning resources, to meet diverse student needs
  • Actively support and promote the college’s digital strategy within the curriculum area
  • Engage with student feedback mechanisms (surveys etc) to gather insights and data for continuous improvement of teaching practices, curriculum design and student support initiatives, while actively teaching and interacting with students
  • Collaborate with the college to ensure curriculum alignment with regulatory standards and industry requirements
  • Integrate current practices, technologies and research into the curriculum
  • Implement strategies to enhance teaching methods and student access
  • Manage resources effectively to support curriculum development and delivery
  • Maintain program accreditation and compliance with educational standards
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
  • Relevant degree and experience of delivering social science qualifications
  • Experience in curriculum development, quality improvement and management, in an educational setting
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills to lead curriculum development teams and manage resources effectively
  • Passion for education and a commitment to enhancing students' learning and success.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking mindset to drive continuous improvement in curriculum design and implementation
  • Punctual and consistent
