Job description

Are you ready to lead with impact? Thames Water seeks a Governance and Assurance Specialist to deliver our ground breaking projects precisely and excellently. If you're passionate about risk management, governance, and making a difference, this is your chance to be at the heart of it all!

What you'll be doing as a Governance and Assurance Specialist

  • With the Delivery Enterprise Assurance Manager and Head of Risk, Governance, and Assurance, support and provide critical improvement for the Capital Delivery assurance strategy.
  • Support the maintenance of the Improvement Roadmap, with a focus on the Assurance data therein, to the three lines of defence model, supported by the Capital Delivery risk process and output, to provide clear visibility to key stakeholders of the relationship between current risk exposure and assurance provision.
  • Deliver the Assurance Schedule of Compliance Sprints, as agreed with the DEAM, and support the development and subsequent insights from the Assurance Big Picture.
  • Build strong relationships with significant discipline areas and other assurance providers in the PMO and Delivery Offices to facilitate a good understanding of the layers of assurance, their interfaces, and effectiveness. Support the leadership team and process owners to optimise assurance provision.
  • Work with the Delivery Offices to review the key checkpoints required in Capital Delivery before sponsoring projects to proceed to Thames Water corporate governance. Through governance, lead the design and continuous improvement of the business case process (including format, quality management, and workflow).
  • Ensure governance and reporting controls are monitored per the Gated Process and Assurance Three Lines model.
This role will be based at Clearwater Court, Reading, on a hybrid basis.

36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role
  • Expert knowledge of governance and assurance.
  • Comprehensive experience undertaking formal reviews, such as audits, and leading an assurance programme.
  • Knowledge of large construction projects.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise risk management processes and principles.
  • Knowledge of programme and project management principles.
  • Experience using Risk Management Software, including assurance management.
  • SAP/ P6/Power-BI/Excel/SharePoint.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary project/programme delivery environment, preferably within utilities, construction, or the service industry.
