Job description

Job Title: Accountant - Client Manager

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000

Benefits: 25 days holiday, plus an extra 5 days holiday incentive scheme

Location: Hatfield

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

MUST HAVE: Experience in an accountancy practice with managerial responsibilities

Purpose of role:

An ambitious accountant with exceptional management experience, capable of working in a fast-moving environment to tight deadlines, and a good communicator both internally with senior management and externally with clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan the workload for the accounts team using the team planner
  • Contact clients to agree timescales for receiving information to complete accounts and tax returns
  • Prepare IRIS accounting records for new clients, including opening trial balances, tax computations, and other relevant information from previous accountants
  • Prepare personal tax computations and self-assessment tax returns
  • Prepare statutory accounts using the IRIS system
  • Prepare management accounts and liaise with clients
  • Handle larger jobs from SAGE and/or manual records, posting to IRIS, and business tax computations
  • Review bookkeeping, management accounts, annual accounts, and tax returns for accuracy based on client information, including notes
  • Prepare account reports for clients upon job completion
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients within the portfolio
  • Provide support and training to team members to develop their skills
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation and accounting standards
  • Supervise the preparation of management accounts
  • Customize management account templates to meet individual client needs
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for clients
  • Handle Tax Credit claims and HMRC queries on behalf of clients
  • Attend and run client board meetings

Attributes:

Qualified or part-qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years managing a busy client portfolio

Management experience is essential

Ability to review and implement more efficient workflows and processes

Works with precision, attention to detail, and maintains high standards
