Equans is seeking a Fabric Engineer for a full-time role at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. The position involves maintenance and repairs of physical assets, requiring relevant qualifications and experience in a building maintenance environment. Equans is looking for a Fabric Engineer to join our team at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) on a 6 month fixed term contract basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
Undertake improvement work, maintenance and repairs of physical assets including all necessary fault finding
To assist and liaise with all other grades of staff in order to provide an efficient Estates service to the Trust(s) as necessary
Nature of work within a ward or department could involve patient/visitor communication whilst working within close proximity
Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to own trade, without supervision
Undertake multi skilled techniques in the modern building structure, fabric, finishes, fixtures and fittings e.g. UPVC windows, Lock smith duties, flooring, suspended ceilings, partitions, minor painting, plastering and assembly of furniture
Produce if necessary list of materials to carry out remedial repairs or alterations to current task. Report if stock of consumable items or spares are low
Ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance work is carried out effectively in compliance with maintenance instructions
To be progressively and suitably trained to acquire elements of extra skills with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to achieve and apply the ability where required to perform the above. Pass knowledge gained, to others

City & Guilds qualifications Carpentry joinery level 2
Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training
Experience in a building maintenance or industrial environment
Fire door maintenance/inspection qualification preferred
Ability to use hand tools, associated trade tools, equipment and woodworking machinery for maintenance, repair and minor improvement/new work to required standard
Understand requirements of working in an environment similar to that found in health care premises
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
