The Role – Consultant Ecologist:

As an Ecological Consultant, you'll be the go-to expert for leading your own exciting projects. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting a variety of ecological surveys, including protected species surveys and habitat assessments (UKHab).
• Preparing comprehensive ecological reports, such as Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
• Advising clients on ecological constraints, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborating with landscape planning and arboriculture teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
• Supporting the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and planning applications.
• Liaising with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Contributing to fee proposals and tender documents.

Requirements:

• A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
• Proven experience in conducting and leading ecological surveys.
• Working knowledge of UKHab survey techniques and Statutory BNG.
• Desired experience using GIS (QGIS) for digital outputs.
• Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail.
• Membership of or working towards membership of CIEEM.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A full UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.
