Qualifications

The Role – Consultant Ecologist:

As an Ecological Consultant, you’ll be the go-to expert for leading your own exciting projects. Your role will involve:

  1. Conducting a variety of ecological surveys, including protected species surveys and habitat assessments (UKHab).
  2. Preparing comprehensive ecological reports, such as Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
  3. Advising clients on ecological constraints, opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
  4. Collaborating with landscape planning and arboriculture teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  5. Supporting the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and planning applications.
  6. Liaising with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  7. Contributing to fee proposals and tender documents.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  2. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent experience.
  3. Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policies.
  4. Proven experience in conducting and leading a variety of ecological surveys.
  5. Working knowledge of UKHab survey techniques and Statutory BNG.
  6. Desired experience using GIS to produce highly accurate digital outputs (QGIS).
  7. Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail.
  8. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or working towards it.
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  10. A full UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites.
