Job Title: Engineering Manager
Job Overview
- Responsible for the delivery of hard services activities at a portfolio of ECC buildings.
- Carry out duties in compliance with Mitie Technical Services Policies and Procedures.
- Drive and promote Mitie's Values and Behaviours.
- Ensure the highest level of results on H&S and service delivery.
- Implement strategic/central initiatives to maximize regional benefits.
- Drive operational performance from teams and contractors.
- Adhere to and improve best practice guidelines.
- Coordinate with management and operational teams to meet contract SLAs.
- Identify commercial and operational opportunities.
Main Duties
- Provide operational support, information, and reports to the RFM.
- Escalate issues early to prevent defects.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Provide cover for other supervisors.
- Create a positive work environment by leading by example, fostering open communication, clarifying goals, recognizing achievements, providing growth opportunities, being empathetic, and managing HR procedures.
- Provide technical support to the team.
- Ensure statutory and mandatory compliance across the ECC estate, completing remedial works within KPIs.
- Utilize reports to maximize efficiency, performance, and productivity.
- Manage PPM and reactive works per contract KPIs.
- Audit 5% of PPM monthly.
- Monitor subcontractor activities to minimize client impact.
- Conduct 'Stop Work Audits' and review RAMS for subcontractor works.
- Proactively manage H&S, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with legislation and policies.
- Ensure checks on van, tools, PPE, and test equipment are completed and recorded.
- Encourage hazard reporting and ensure team completes monthly TBTs and mandatory training.
- Approve material quotes up to £1k.
- Prepare operational, accident, and incident reports.
- Provide quotes for new work.
- Keep Maximo updated with asset and PPM changes.
- Maintain good relationships internally and externally.
- Attend meetings for capital/lifecycle replacement work.
- Participate in out-of-hours emergency escalation procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- Recognized apprenticeship or training scheme (desired).
- Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of building services systems (Controls, LTHW, CHW, HVAC, L8, UPS, Generators).
- Health & Safety qualification (IOSH / NEBOSH).
- Understanding of Maximo CAFM system.
- Experience in a supervisory role in a technical environment.
- Proficiency in core Microsoft Office skills.
- Self-motivated with initiative and team skills.
- Strong influencing and communication skills for working with management, teams, and clients.
