As an Azure Engineering Manager at LI, you will be responsible for an engineering team consisting of DevOps and Identity & Integration personnel. The team provides critical break-fix support and proactive system maintenance, ensuring continuous availability and optimal performance of systems and customer identity and integration services.

The successful candidate will lead a team that designs, implements, and manages DevOps practices and pipelines in Azure cloud environments with a strong focus on Security by Design principles and adherence to industry and government security standards. Additionally, you will guide Azure B2C identity management, API Management (APIM), and SQL systems.

The team plays a key role in designing and managing continuous integration/continuous deployment. By working with cross-functional teams including development, operations, security, and third parties, you will enable efficient, automated, secure, and scalable software delivery, alongside providing both proactive and reactive maintenance, and out-of-hours support to optimize infrastructure performance and costs, ensuring continuous service improvement.

The salary for this role is £55,000.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the team to provide timely and efficient break-fix support to resolve system issues and minimize downtime in line with Service Level Agreements, including out-of-hours support.
  • Monitoring system performance, availability, capacity, and infrastructure, and optimizing code to ensure efficiency and reliability.
  • Leading 3rd line support for Azure platform and customer identity & integration services, addressing escalated and complex issues, while coordinating with internal teams to maintain service uptime.
  • Planning and provisioning workloads for service enhancements, projects, and client requests to support dynamic business needs.
  • Enforcing security policies through regular vulnerability assessments, patching, and hardening systems in accordance with corporate security policies, Azure Security Benchmark, and CIS controls.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support, guide, and provide technical guidance on applications, identity & integration, and infrastructure implementations, ensuring security frameworks are followed.
  • Implementing proactive monitoring and real-time monitoring tools to maintain system health and provide feedback on performance and risks.
  • Leveraging expertise in Microsoft Azure's IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings to design and enhance cloud solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Building and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines, utilizing ARM templates, Terraform, and other tools for consistent, secure deployments.
  • Managing API gateways with Azure API Management (APIM), maintaining Azure B2C user flows, and configuring policies.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing Azure SQL databases for critical applications.
  • Providing training, support, and mentorship to team members to promote best practices.
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation for deployment, architecture, and troubleshooting.
  • Communicating progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to stakeholders and management.
  • Completing regular management reports on team objectives, progress, concerns, and trends.

Additional duties may be assigned as needed by your line manager.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Extensive experience leading and mentoring technical teams in an Azure Engineering or Technical Manager/Lead role, with a full understanding of Identity, Integration, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience providing high-quality break-fix support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to monitor and maintain complex cloud-based systems, ensuring uptime and performance.
  • Management of Azure subscriptions and resources.
  • Supervising infrastructure as code (IaC) using ARM templates or Terraform.
  • Implementing automation into current processes.
  • Managing customer identity and access with Azure AD B2C, including custom policies and user flows.
  • Creating and building integration patterns.
  • Using log analytics for real-time identity analytics.
  • Knowledge of identity and access protocols such as OpenID, OAuth2.0, and SAML2.0.
  • Familiarity with Azure API Management (APIM), security, and cloud-to-cloud integration.
  • Understanding C# programming, Azure Functions, and Web Apps.
  • Experience working within a .NET environment.
  • Designing, implementing, and managing Azure SQL databases.
  • Applying compliance frameworks like Azure Security Benchmark, NIST, and NCSC.
  • Implementing security testing tools such as SonarQube and Zed Attack Proxy.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to support senior management in creating engineering roadmaps and priorities.
  • Mentoring and training team members to adopt best practices in Azure coding.
