Product Design Engineer - Job Description

We are seeking a Product Design Engineer for a boat manufacturer based in Christchurch. The ideal candidate will have experience or an educational background in product design. The role involves office work with some remote work flexibility depending on project stages. Candidates should reside within a commutable distance of Christchurch.

Responsibilities

1. Design and program products to optimize the use of in-house machinery.
2. Create prototypes, conduct product testing, and prepare pre-manufacturing design packages.
3. Collaborate with GRP (Glassfibre Reinforced Plastic), electrical, and mechanical engineers, as well as the management team, on product integration and feasibility.

Requirements

• Creative, solution-oriented approach.
• Experience or educational background in product design.
• Experience in taking a product design from prototype to pre-manufacturing stages.
• Good communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Experience with 3D printing, CNC programming, and 3D scanning.
• Interest in boats and marine products is a plus but not essential.
