Job Title: School Caretaker

Rate of Pay: £12.81 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday - Occasional Weekends)

Contract: Permanent

Type of Employment: Full Time

Location: Lewis School Pengam, Gilfach, Pengam, Bargoed, Caerphilly, Wales, CF81 8LJ

Job Information

Deliver excellent service standards for a Mitie customer. Ensure the contract service delivery is of a high standard, meeting all SLA agreements.

Main Duties

• Undertake all training required to deliver the caretaking role.
• Adhere to all Mitie Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Ensure all equipment is kept clean, well maintained, and in safe working order.
• Have a full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials, and approved chemicals used by Mitie.
• Be responsible for proper maintenance, cleaning, security, and safety within the school premises and grounds.
• Undertake cleaning of slippery floors, spillages, bodily fluids, and other emergency cleaning tasks.
• Monitor helpdesk jobs and address/close them within timelines and SLAs.
• Act as key holder, unlocking/locking buildings as required.
• Carry out porterage tasks as per SLAs and school requests.
• Keep internal and grounds areas free from litter.
• Respond to helpdesk jobs and resolve or provide feedback.
• Empty internal and external bins.
• Set up rooms for examinations and school functions, then restore layout afterward.
• Perform PPM tasks, including fire alarm, sprinkler tests, and emergency light checks.
• Cover out-of-hours building usage on a rota system.
• Ensure contractor access and escort if DBS clearance is not available.
• Adhere to safeguarding policies and report concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Undertake other duties within capability as needed.
