Job Title: School Caretaker / Site Maintenance Operative / Groundskeeper

Location: Cardiff

Hours: 6:00–9:00 AM and 3:00–6:00 PM, Monday to Friday

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual who enjoys practical problem-solving to support the daily operations of a school in Cardiff. Responsibilities include maintaining the grounds, basic repairs, handling deliveries, and ensuring security, all contributing to a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of premises, grounds, and car park, including gritting and snow clearance
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as plumbing, decorating, and minor electrical work
• Manage post and deliveries
• Prepare and secure spaces for school lettings, including evening and weekend availability
• Assist with health & safety checks, fire alarm testing, and compliance procedures
• Respond promptly to issues and emergencies to ensure smooth site operations

Qualifications and Skills

• Basic maintenance skills (plumbing, decorating, electrical)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Numeracy and Literacy
• Awareness of health & safety and school security protocols
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Organizational skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
