Job description

Data Analyst

SOCOTEC UK is a market leader in environmental monitoring, testing, and compliance services. With over 30 years of experience, our Flow & Water Quality Monitoring division supports clients across the UK — ranging from blue-chip consultancies to major water companies — in reducing environmental risk and enhancing the quality of natural water environments.

As part of a globally trusted brand in infrastructure, environmental, and compliance solutions, we are passionate about innovation, sustainability, and delivering excellence to our customers.

The Role

We are recruiting for a Data Analyst to join our Flow & Water Quality Monitoring team. This role is essential in delivering accurate environmental data gathered from field-deployed flow monitors across the UK. These monitors capture water depth, velocity, and rainfall data, which are used to assess the performance of wastewater networks and river quality.

This is a hybrid role based in Leeds, with flexibility to work from home, client sites, or our office, depending on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and analyse environmental data from flow monitoring and water quality systems
  • Identify patterns and anomalies in water flow, rainfall, and river data
  • Update and record equipment status, ensuring optimum data quality and performance
  • Communicate findings clearly with both internal teams and external clients
  • Deliver reports and support project stakeholders with accurate data-driven insights

Role Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), email, and web-based reporting tools
  • Ideally holds a degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Geography, Environmental Science, Hydrology) and/or industry experience (not essential – full training provided)
  • Must have the right to work in the UK

Why Join SOCOTEC?

  • Competitive salary with skill-based uplifts
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Company pension scheme
  • Employee perks & discount schemes
  • Structured training and career progression
  • Supportive and friendly team culture
  • Opportunities to contribute to environmental sustainability

This is a hybrid role primarily connected to our Leeds office. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home, client offices, or our Leeds base depending on your workload and meeting schedules. While regular travel to the office is required, daily attendance is not expected. Ideally, candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance to foster collaboration with on-site teams—but this is not essential.

Building a safer and more sustainable world is the core mission we set out to achieve at SOCOTEC, it is at the heart of everything that we do. We are committed to acting as a key player in society, investing in innovative solutions to ensure social and environmental concerns are at the forefront of all of our business operations.
