Job Description

Construction Site Manager (HV) - This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in supporting, facilitating, and coordinating sites and projects within the high voltage power or electrical engineering sector.

Our client is responsible for the construction, maintenance, renewal, refurbishment, and repair of electricity transmission and distribution networks, assets, and systems. This includes substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and associated equipment such as switchgear and transformers.

The client seeks to appoint a Construction Site Manager to oversee multiple project and site activities, ensuring the smooth and timely procurement, availability, and movement of resources, including plant, labor, materials, and subcontractors. You will support Project Managers and operational teams to deliver work to client specifications while adhering to safety, quality, and budget requirements.

You should have experience managing subcontractors, working to project scopes and specifications, maintaining good client relationships, and controlling site safety.

Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, including CDM Construction Phase Plans, safety rules, risk assessments, incident reporting, and other HSE policies.
  2. Act as a primary contact for client, site, and office teams for project delivery and planning.
  3. Manage sites with project budgets over £1m, potentially up to £15m, including producing weekly progress reports.
  4. Identify efficiencies with contractors, suppliers, and partners to enhance project outcomes and profitability.
  5. Organize site establishments, procurement, and delivery of materials.
  6. Provide excellent customer service through clear communication, maintaining safety, orderliness, and high-quality work.
  7. Address daily challenges impacting program delivery under various conditions.
  8. Promote the company's reputation through positive behavior and attitude.
  9. Maintain good time management and professional appearance.
  10. Stand in for the Project Manager as needed.
Candidate Requirements
  • Strong technical background with experience in HV power or electrical engineering projects.
  • Experience managing sites, resources, and budgets in HV electrical projects.
  • Proficiency with project planning tools like Microsoft Office.
  • Construction Management NVQ or equivalent qualification, or a completed apprenticeship in a related engineering field.
  • Valid CSCS and SMSTS certifications.
  • Experience with LV and HV electrical systems, plant, and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel.
  • Experience in site auditing and safety management.
  • Leadership, delegation, and time management skills.
  • Experience managing multiple sites and resource scheduling.
  • Knowledge of traffic management and civils works.
  • Good understanding of HSEQ compliance at site level.
